Show 854 - Film Noir

Air Date:

Friday, 17 August 2018

The name is Spade...Sam Spade.

I’m a private dick on a case.

The case is finding Little Steven before this week’s Underground Garage tribute to Film Noir.

Joining him, if we can find him, will be The Who, Paul Revere & the Raiders, the Vanilla Fudge, the Kinks, and the Yardbirds.

Come join the party and we will see who survives the only Rock n’ Roll dance party on the radio.

I get 25 bucks a day and expenses. I’m a private dick on a case.

I’ll see you this weekend in the Underground Garage.

Sounds like the jukebox of show 853... Not that I mind Little Richard being Feeak of the Week two shows in a row ...

As always, Stevie knows exactly what songs I NEED to hear, and when...
listening to this show as I read 'Unhinged' about our Dear Leader...as film noirs go,
it don't get more noir than him.
Thanks, Stevie. (PS..the Disciples of Soul tour is most welcome in our fair desert city, Vegas.
Help us out of the darkness!!)

    Wrong audio for this show!!!!!!!!

  • Marlene Sullivan

I liked hearing Smokey R. with Brian Ray on CNSW ( second week in a row since wrong audio) but it reminded me of what a Motown “ miracle”( pun intended)Smokey is...I just saw The Temptations Ain’t Too Proud To Beg musical ( I went for the dancing, great choreography) but got schooled in the pitfall of being a successful Motown artist (“goodnight Irene” about sums it up). At intermission I was pondering whether or not David Ruffin’s smacking Tami Terrell in the head contributed to her early death from a brain tumor...and we were just getting started.
On a cool note, Smokey R. dug David R’s voice so much he wrote songs intentionally for him to shine like “ My Girl”..Smokey was always cool it seems... he gets replaced by Norman W. ( in the best scene)who writes “Ain’t too proud to beg” with more grit and The Temptations really work it, just fun to watch the cast deliver!

I absolutely love how Steven refers to Paul McCartney as Paulie

And what a story about George shadow Morton and how he went into the Brill Building N told them that he was a writer, went home, and wrote walking in the rain, amazing!
