Show 719 - The Godfather of Rock: Frank Barsalona

Air Date:

Monday, 11 January 2016

Hey baby, Little Steven here.

Join us this weekend for a tribute to a very very special man, my man Frankie “the Boss” Barsalona: Godfather of the Rock Era.

He is a name you may not know, but is responsible for most of your favorite artists coming to your town on tour in the great old days.

Such as Traffic, the Clash, Chiffons, Blues Magoos, the Ramones, Santana, the Yardbirds, and on and on.

Come find out what Peppy Castro, Ginger Baker, and Johnny Rotten have in common.

It’s our tribute to the Godfather of Rock, Frank Barsalona, in the world’s only Rock n’ Roll dance party on the radio.

I will see you this weekend in the Underground Garage.

    nearly perfection
    •end of set 2
    • start of set 3
u had 2 bring it home over the titles w/ more @Jeff Beck as the interlude music^
btw SWLABR as the story goes ~ She Was Like a Bearded Rainbow, a better, if salacious, poetic imagery.

Has to be one of my favorite shows. Period.
And that is saying a lot.

I traveled to Barcelona in April of 1999 to see Springsteen and the ESB play, and found myself talking to a very nice gentleman in my hotel lobby after the show. He introduced himself as Frank Barsalona. And I thought to myself, a likely alias - so I introduced myself as Richy Rochester! Little did I know I was speaking with a legend!! Great show tonight, as always, Stevie! Hi Ho Silver!!

This marks the 2nd week in a row (1/3 , 1/10) that the third song in the show is Blues Magoos. Which might not be worth nothing if IT WERE NOT, YET AGAIN, THE THIRD SONG IN THE SHOW THIS (1/24) WEEK! PLEASE pick some different songs!
