Show 650 - TV A Go-Go

Air Date:

Monday, 15 September 2014

Hey baby, Little Steven here, and this week in the Underground Garage we are going TV A Go-Go!

We are celebrating all the teenage Rock n’ Roll shows that were all over TV when we were growing up including Shindig!, Upbeat, Ready Steady Go, and god himself, otherwise known as Ed Sullivan.

Joining us will be the Byrds, the Beatles, Smokey Robinson & the Miracles, the Troggs, the Ramones, the Angels, and the Tuff Darts.

Come find out what Howln’ Wolf, Bonnie Bramlett, and Freddy “Boom Boom” Cannon have in common.

It’s the coolest TV shows ever on the coolest Rock n’ Roll dance party on the radio ever.

I’ll see you this weekend in the Underground Garage.

Great show... Great sound clip from "High Fidelity"... Cool movie... Even cooler book... Nick Hornby is currently one of the best... Check out the books "About a Boy" and "Juliet, Naked" (where a farmer mistakenly taken for an obscure "retired" singer-songwriter and locally known as "Fake-Tucker" of "Fncker" sings "Farmer John" with a band)... Another of his books has just been made into a movie: "A Long Way Down"...

The older songs are a great foundation for this show and all others in the Garage, but bands like the Cherry Drops make each episode special and fresh.

Peace and groovy wishes to all.
