Show 603 - Gunfight at the OK Corral!

Air Date:

Monday, 14 October 2013

Hey Baby, Little Steven here. Now think back to the Old West, when there was no Super Bowl, no World Series, no Oscars, no Emmys, and no cable.

What did people do for fun and entertainment?

I’ll tell you what they did, they had gunfights at the O.K. Corral, and we’re celebrating it this weekend in the Underground Garage.

Joining us will be the Vanilla Fudge, the Yardbirds, the Rascals, the Kinks, the Ramones, the Shadows Of Knight, and Moby Grape.

Come find out what Sonny Boy Williamson, Little Eva, and the Olympics have in common.

It’s the Gunfight At The O.K. Corral; right here in the world’s only Rock n’ Roll dance party on the radio.

I’ll see you this weekend in the Underground Garage.

No "Estasi del Oro" to accompany the intro's narration ? Oh well... Great show still !!!

Thank You Very Much, Little Steven, for another 5 Star Saturday Night Special. I also would like to thank The Administrator for getting the show up into the Archives for All UG Members to enjoy. GOOD WORK! O.K. A 30 second Gunfight that Hollywood turned into a 122 minute fine feature film. There's good old Burt Lancaster and Kirk Douglas heading to that showdown. The 1957 film "Gunfight At The O.K. Corral" also had Mr. Dennis Hopper in it as well in a very early role. Gonna make this a quick one, as I am very wiped out from helping those Boston Red Sox win The World Series this year. Boston Strong, after those terrible Marathon bombings back in April on Patriot's Day! YES! BOSTON STRONG! Set 1. I gotta go with Kill City by Iggy Pop after The Stooges broke up. Killer Tune! Set 2. Love that new sound by Barrence Whitfield and the Savages with The Corner Man. EXCELLENT! I saw Barrence twice in Boston and once in Northampton, Mass. back in the 80's. Great to have him back, BIG TIME! Moving along to set 3. I'm gonna choose 2 here. Absolutely Love that King Khan & The Shrines with Better Luck Next Time from their new release "Idle No More". Great 60's vibe with some killer horns. Been playing that new release in very heavy rotation. Seein' as how we are at the movies, I'm throwing in Killer Joe by Rocky Fellers who were actually 4 Filipino Brothers. The tune was written by Bert Russell & Bob Elgin, and was inspired by the famed dance instructor, "King Of Discotheque", Killer Joe Piro. It reached # 16 on Billboard Hot 100 way back in April, 1963. Now, also "Killer Joe" was the title of the 2012 film directed by William Friedkin and starred Mr. Matthew McConaughey and hot babe Gina Gershon. A very highly SMRZ recommended Neo-Noir! The ending will have your head spinning for weeks. I shall reveal no SPOILER here. RENT IT! BUY IT! One Very Whacked-Out Neo-Noir! Set 4. Gotta go with your coolest song in the world this week by Mr. Willie Nile which was This Is Our Time. Go out and buy his new release "American Ride". Yet another excellent release this year! The wrap-up should be great this year, Stevie. Which brings us to yet another new release by Joan Jett & The Blackhearts with "Unvarnished", where we get the killer tune Any Weather. Set 5. Now we're at the drive-in. YEAH BABY! Gotta go with yet another new one which would be Runaround by Soraia, as it is spelled in the playlist. And closing out the set, as well as the Excellent show with Moby Grape and Can't Be So Bad. Would like to tip my hat to Mr. Steed Colliss , who happens to have an extraordinary knowledge of all of the Underground Garage Shows. Bordering on GENUIS! Thanks again, Little Steven, for yet another Excellent show! Also continuing to dig your fab new sponsors,The United Association, UAVIP! They continue to fill a much needed void by both training and finding jobs for our Veterans in the Piping Industry! GREAT JOB! So, that's it for Show # 603. WOW! I guess I'll see you next week when we shall be celebrating our favorite holiday, which would be HALLOWEEN! To all who live IN and FOR the Underground Garage, Peace Be with You! EEYAHH! SMRZ!

      Hey Robert,

Thanks for the kind words... It's nothing but a good memory, an Excel spreadsheet, too much time on my hands and some obsessive/complusive thing... It's just that I keep a record of every show... From what is available on the website, I only have some 15 or eighteen shows to listen to in order to have heard them all... Also, out of the first hundred shows (which are not yet available), there are about 32 I haven't listened to... I did write down my story in the comments section of a past show, but I can't remember which one...

      • Robert P Smarse Jr.

You are very welcome! Hey Steed! I was wondering if you have been able to track down show #545. As you can see, it is missing from The Archives. It was broadcast on Sat. Sep. 8, 2012. It was originally titled Motorcycle Nightmare, I do believe. "A man went looking for America & couldn't find it anywhere". Methinks that Victory Motorcycles drove it off into the sunset. Just curious. If anybody could track it down, it would be YOU! Thanks! SMRZ!!

        • Steed Colliss

          Hey Robert !

in the comments of show 546, the administrator writes the following: "Show 545 is available exclusively on Victory Motorcycles Facebook page right now
It will also be up in the Underground Garage archives next week."

I tried the link but without success... There's also show 403 that's missing... That should be a Christmas a Go-Go show of December 20 2009... I'm currently almost done with show 455 and the missing playlist should be in the comments section tomorrow at the latest... Then it's up to show 459...

I may have knowledge on the stuff inside the garage, but I ahave to say that you have the knowledge of the stuff surrounding the garage...

          Surf's up, s'tie !

          • Robert P Smarse Jr.

Thanks So Much, Steed You Are Truly Amazing with your knowledge and ability to perform the necessary duty at Hand! Your brain must be wired like a robot! "Blade Runner"(1982)!-Is there any more room left upstairs in your Brain? Really Thank You for the info! You make me feel less like a freak! More Normal, like other people! One Final Word-Do Not Trust Politicians! Amen! Peace Be with You! SMRZ!!

            • Steed Colliss

What's a politaician ? I keep jearing that word in every intro of the Revenge of the Candy show...

Don't worry, I know what the word is... I had to go vote on the municipal level last week and I'll have to go for the provincial level next week...

Thanks you for a wonderfull show but as a Ramones nerd and a Evil dead fan, would'nt the song I DON'T WANNA GO DOWN IN THE BASEMENT be more appropriate???
