Show 602 - Jailhouse Rock!

Air Date:

Monday, 14 October 2013

Well winter is creeping in.

So what are you doing this weekend?

Drive in is out. Forget about the beach.

I know, let’s go to prison.

We’re celebrating Jailhouse Rock, Elvis Presley’s coolest movie.

Joining us will be the Tremeloes, the Fleshtones, the Sex Pistols, the Byrds, and the Dave Clark 5.

There is only one place to find out what Johnny Rotten, Wilson Pickett, and Serge Gainsbourg have in common.

We are calling it Jailhouse Rock, and it is exclusively, on this, the coolest radio station in town.

I will see you this weekend in the world’s only Rock n’ Roll dance party on the radio, in solitary, in the Underground Garage.

Little Steven - your shows have brought much happiness to us on a weekly basis. You are too cool!

Great show as usual... Good to hear a french song... By the way, how about a show on the Québec bands that made their versions of British or American pop songs in the sixties... Also, we have a good garage rock scene up here (including King Kahn)... Also, if you're in the Montréal area, check this exhibit out, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Beatles playing in Montréal:

I'm not good enough to make it that you simply click on it, so you'll have to copy/paste...

    Have fun ! Surf's up, s'tie !

Who plays the piano on Elvis" "Jailhouse Rock"? Great show, but I wish it had the "intro" and "outro" credits.

    • Steed Colliss

You can always go look at shows 185 and 498 for the musical beds...

    • Michael Bucco

Mike Stoller played piano on this track

  • Chris Dougherty

I'll go jail in handcuffs with Brigid Bardot back in the day. Great show, as usual, Steven, and the more I hear the Sex Pistols' "Pretty Vacant" the more I like it.

    • Steed Colliss

Check out YouTube... There's a video of Camp Freddy doing "Pretty Vacant" featuring Glen Matlock on bass and Tiffany singing...
