Show 376 - MONTEREY POP

Air Date:

Sunday, 14 June 2009

Hey baby, Little Steven here with our Underground Garage pop quiz of the week.

What was the coolest rock festival of them all?

No…Not exactly…Close…

That’s right, the second one, Monterey Pop Festival, June of 1967.

It introduced the Who, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and a whole bunch of others that would begin to redefine Rock n’ Roll.

Come join us as we celebrate the 42nd anniversary.

Brand new stuff from the Chesterfield Kings from Rochester, Graham Day and the Gaolers from England, the New York Dolls from New York City, Tinted Windows from Chicago, the Cocktail Slippers from Norway, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, and we’ll throw in a little Green Day too.

Come find out what Johnny Rivers, Ravi Shankar, and D.A. Pennebaker have in common.

It’s Monterey Pop this weekend in the psychedelic Underground Garage.
