Show 435 - BANGLADESH 2009

Air Date:

Hey baby, Little Steven here with our Underground Garage weekly pop quiz.

Where did all those Rock n’ Roll benefits come from? They had to start somewhere.

Before anyone cared about the Brazilian rainforest, Live Aid, or feeding people in Africa...

It was the Concert For Bangladesh, August 1st, 1971.

It was organized by George Harrison and Ravi Shankar, and we are celebrating it this week with a whole lot of the artists that were there.

Such as Bob Dylan, Leon Russell, Badfinger, and Ringo of course.

And just to balance things out, we are celebrating Tony Sirico’s birthday too. How’s that for an Underground Garage exacta.

Brand new music from the Deadbeat Poets, Genya Ravan has a new one, the Dahlmanns out of Norway, the fabulous Dollyrots, and something brand new from the Hives.

Come find out what Steve Martin, Jackie DeShannon, and Ali Akbar Khan have in common.

It’s the concert for Bangladesh in the world’s only Rock n’ Roll dance party on the radio. I’ll see you this weekend in the Underground Garage.
