thanks for the full-length samples! All the current girl-rockers owe a thanks to Chrissie; tomorrow I'll vote for another Coolest..
The one song missing in that list is "Run Now Baby" from Palmyra Delran and Bubble Gun... My votes will go as follow:
Groovy Uncle featuring Suzy Chunk
King Khan and the Shrines (Luckiest Man)
The New Trocaderos
Cocktail Slippers (You Give Me)
The Bayonets (Crash Boom Bang)
The Empty Hearts
The Cherry Drops
Kurt Baker and his Party Animals
Though my main vote goes to Kelley Stotlz...
Lots of covers this year...
Main vote goes to Mahalia Barnes and the Soul Mates but lots of great music this year...PMC had a great song early in the year, Other good stuff...Ingrid Olava's Jackie Kennedy, Anything by Kurt Baker, The Woggles or Nick Waterhouse. The Dahlmanns He's A Drag I found lyself humming more than a few times..Fat Girls Dance from Nils Lofgren and of course My Kind of Town from Frank The Fixer...
Write in vote. "Little Boy Blue" - Tonto and the Renegades
Thanks on behalf of Groovy Uncle and Suzi Chunk for the airplay. Good luck to all nominees!
Great music. It's better than getting a mix tape from your boyfriend. ;)
There are some great choices here. But the easy winner has got "Outta Sight" by The Cherry Drops on show 645. It's power-popped up beach sound is awesome. When I first heard in the show I thought it was a remnant of the 60s or 70s I hadn't heard before. Nope, it's current. Check it out and give it your vote.
Other contenders are "90 Miles an Hour Down a Dead-End Street" by The Empty Hearts and "Come and Get It" by The Dollyrats. Springsteen, Hynde, Gaslight Anthme, and Black Keys are always worth listening to but none has the coolest song of the year this year.
Check out "Outta Sight" and then give it your vote.
Outta Sight was a fun song...Very cool call & answer guitar riff!
On behalf of my band The Cherry Drops I want to sincerely thank all these great bands and musicians. To be a part of something this awesome is a dream of a lifetime. Win or loose, we have already won in our hearts just being included in this 2014 list with all these amazing bands/musicians and their songs. Thanks also to Underground Garage and Little Steven, The Mighty Manfred and everyone on Sirius XM (CH. 21... the soundtrack to my life. Best wishes to everyone and happy holidays (Vern from The Cherry Drops)
I believe, This is your Sword, is one of the best songs Bruce has ever written. Wonder why it was not done much on last tour, such a pity as greatest song ever. ...another Anthem
Steve Conte NYC's OK DJ is the coolest song in the world! He's got my vote!
Vote The Jelly Bricks
Yeah! What she said!!!! :D
Man there were some great songs this year and it is a tough choice.
Exceptionally difficult year to pick just one. I've voted every day and have picked a different one each time. Great Work on keeping them available to play. Peace and Love Through Music. EEYAHH! SMRZ!
Hey Robert! Nice to hear your comments and feedback again. Fine business :)
Thank You Very Much. Feels good to be appreciated. We ALL need that in Life and thereafter. Peace And Love through Music!
Nice to read you're still listening !!!
Take care !!
You are Very Welcome, you rogue, Steed. I'm still totally locked into The Underground Garage. I like your top ten. Having So much difficulty picking this year. Peace and Love Through Music, SMRZ!
I gotta go with SMRZ, can't pick just 1, so, vote early and vote often!!!!!!
I too have voted for different songs but only voted twice so far.
I listen to the UGG for about 9 hours a day everyday at work so I hear the Coolest Song many times during the week. Sometimes I have to switch the channel if it is something I do not like but that has not happened very many times this year I must say.
Love the UGG.
I am almost 60 and I have been around the block a few times but how can you not love a station where you can hear Frank and Nancy Sinatra along with The Beatles, Led Zep, Cheap Trick, The Stones and of course Little Steven.
What a wonderful mix of music.
Merry Christmas to every one and thanks to the UGG for providing the music for my workday and beyond.
once again too many good ones to choose from! but i MUST SAY THIS! i have been listening since Halloween of 2002 and for the MOST part i LOVE the tunes here! yeah i disagree with LS on some things but this is THE VERY FIRST year where there are FOUR really lousy sings on this list!!!now don't get me wrong. not biting the hand that feeds but it IS crazy!! STILL LOVE YOU GUYS!!! keep on rockin in the free world!!! :)
These songs are great and we get to listen to the entire song free after someone else did the work of finding them. Personal favorite is Kelley Stoltz(yes, Steed, I hear Batman) but also really dig Crash Boom Bang and Dollyrots'Come and Get It. Plus how stellar is Jack White's creative mojo in Would You Fight For My Love?-piano,drums,operatic drama in backup vocal, edgy true lyrics.
Oh boy, you remember after all these months ?
Just like with Robert, you take care too...
Hi Steed. Of course I do . I'm codependent on cool ( rock) feedback as a jazz fan, kinda clueless here but havin a ball learning from pros.... speaking of which is Robert's shyness associated w/ a certain Netflix zeitgeist.... and consequent repeat of programming? All the best to you both in 2015,
Marlene! So mice that you noticed my shyness. I'm taking care of a very sick Aunt this year, as well as dealing with a Prostate Cancer, early stage, of my own. so, my time is very limited. Maybe in more ways then just one. Thanks for acknowledging my absence. Peace And Love through Music! SMRZ!
That sounds very trying, but it will get better...Keep the faith.
This weeks Coolest Song should make a late push...Scoobie Do - Shotgun Slim, kicks some serious ass!
Please vote for 'About The Weekend' by The Jellybricks (Show 619) because they really are the coolest :) !!!
Has to be:
OK DJ (Steve Conte)
Come & Get It (Dollyrots)
Dark Sunglasses (Chrissie Hynde)
But there's a BUNCH of good stuff on here!
JP Soars, "Somethin' Ain't Right"
A Merry Christmas to one and all!
You as well Glenn and all listeners of LSUG! Have a rockin' Christmas (Vern from The Cherry Drops)
Tears of a Clown by the Doughboys
Coolest Song in the World for 2014
"About the Weekend" by the Jellybricks is my favorite by many lengths. Though last year I thought Downtown by Redd Kross was best —so I guess I like the power pop!
Well, I finally did settle on a Top Ten. I know that you are all waiting with fevered anticipation, so here they are. Elephant Stone, Jack White, Kelly Stoltz, Groovy Uncle with Suzi Chunk, (Barefoot), Roger Daltry & Wilo Jones, Chrissie Hynde, GOASST, Tom Petty, The Dogs, and finally, Soraia. I don't know how to make margins and do fancy stuff like that Steed guy does, so's you'll have to count with your fingers. I Must say, however, that this was the very best year for new tunes since I have been in the UG, which is now 4 years. I'm still catching up on past shows. I hope that everybody has a Sparkling New Year in 2015. Peace and Love Through Music! EEYAHH! SMRZ!
Must fix minor typo, above. It's Roger Daltry and Wilko Johnson. I had better watch out of former member of Dr. Feelgood could make things go in such a way that I might Not feel so good about. EEYAH! SMRZ!
Well, at least 5 of my top ten also made Little Steven's Top Ten, not 20. I do not see how Little Steven could possible leave out Kelly Stoltz, Jack White, and
Wilko Johnson and Roger Daltrey! Or was that the top ten according to listener's votes? Couldn't be, as votes ended on the 27th, and I heard the show on the 28th. Wait, actually, that means they could have. Anyway, it was a very difficult year to pick, which could lead one to say, "It Was A Very Good Year". I Agree with myself. I Hope that all members of The Underground Garage, both inside and outside, Have A Sparkling 2015! Peace and Love through Music! SMRZ!
Can anyone post the top 10? I'm dying to know and haven't heard them on a show yet?? It sounds like at least Robert knows what they were.
O.K. Mike, very glad to oblige. Here are the top 10, from the top, with #1. The Dogs, Tom Petty, Groovy Uncle With Suzi Chunk, (Barefoot), GOASTT, Ingrid Olava, Stupidity, Springsteen, Empty Hearts, Chrissie Hynde, Elephant Stone, Ricky Byrd, Sugar Stems. Wait, that's 12 in the top 10. Those mushrooms were stronger then I initially thought. Somewhat strange, considering that Little Steven started the top 20 with # 19. I shall repeat my previous thought. I can't believe that Little Steven could possibly leave out Kelly Stoltz, and Wilko Johnson with Roger Daltrey. But, as we all know, music, as well as movies, shall forever remain a personal choice. glad to oblige a fellow UG member. Again, to all who live IN and FOR, The Underground Garage, Peace And Love through Music! Happy 2015! EEYAHH! SMRZ!
Hiya folks - is the official top ten posted anywhere on this site or the UGG facebook site?
