Hey baby, Little Steven here with our weekly Underground Garage pop quiz.

What is the greatest album of all time?

Yeah not bad...Uh huh...Maybe...I don’t think so...

We are going with Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, and we are celebrating its birthday this week.

Joining us will be all the other artists on the charts at the same time the week of Sgt. Pepper’s release.

Including Otis Redding, the Lovin’ Spoonful, the Tremolos, the Turtles, the Animals, the Hollies, the Easybeats, Gary Lewis and the Playboys, and the Grass Roots.

We are celebrating the greatest album ever made this weekend in the world’s only Rock n’ Roll dance party on the radio.

I‘ll see you this weekend in the Underground Garage.

In 1967, the World's Fair was held in Montréal and was known as "Man and His World" ("Terre des Hommes")... A journalist from the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) knew the album was being released in the UK before the States or Canada... He had a friend who was a stewardess for Air Canada and was on a London/Montréal flight on the day of the release... He had asked her to buy a copy and bring it back on the return flight... As soon as she got off the plane, she had the record courriered over the World's Fair... The journalist had the record put on the speaker system of the place... After being played once, visitors asked for it to be played again... It turned out that for the rest of the day, the record was played again and again... And that's how and where the album was played for the first time in North America... 50 years ago, today...

Steed that's proof Canadians have been cool for over 50 years and speaking of cool the Sinatra/Jobim album came out 50 years ago- beautiful stuff. It's the album I've listened to most start to finish after Wee Small Hours. I'm just not hard wired to rock but makes me appreciate the Garage's fab curation that much more... and you fun rockin' commentors...making my musical journey go on and on.

WOW! CAN YOU BELIEVE it's been 50 YEARS??????? UNREAL! I was a mere lad of 3 soon to be 4 that September of the summer of love and when this album came out! For better or worse the MOST IMPORTANT AND INFLUENTIAL ALBUM of ALL TIME!!!!!! Congratulations to the Fab Four on this achievement!! Thanks for posting another classic update! Not crazy about the new song but there ya go! ROCK ON!!! ;)

Why did you change your stand alone player by eliminating it's playback timeline? I can't rewind or fast forward and have to return to the beginning of a segment to replay anything.

I agree with Chuck Mella. The fast-forward/rewind feature is greatly missed! Sometimes you just want to hear some boss song over and over and over! Now: not so much. Alas, never again.
