Show 711 - Scorsese

Air Date:

Tuesday, 17 November 2015

Now considering the entire body of work, who was the coolest director, like, ever?

Robert Rodriguez?…good guess...

Michael Mann?...Yea, yea yea…

Howard Hawks? John Ford?

The Underground Garage favorite is Martin Scorsese, and we are celebrating his birthday this week.

Joining us will be the Clash, the Cream, the Searchers, and the Who.

Tune in to find out what Frank Sinatra, Johnny Thunders, and Micky Dolenz have in common.

Come enjoy a night with Martin Scorsese in the world’s only Rock n’ Roll dance party on the radio.

I’ll see you this weekend in the Underground Garage.

    @Woodstock (film) 1970 »
•Technical Director (on stage - check out Last Waltz for his visual presence), an independent prod., dist. by Warner Bros. - thank goodness for the goldeness of unending Panavision (?) 70mm film stock they provided for those $less images/audio quality.
••Interior Design, editing room where he forged his relationship w/ @Thelma Schoonmaker - my favorite part of his oeuvre.

As one Garden State icon salutes another..

In the words of the great Jake LaMotta at the end of
Marty's masterpiece Raging Bull (& as heard on a certain garage-based radio show) when it comes to Scorsese "that's entertainment..that's entertainment..."

Or put more simply, in Jersey-speak..."Marty? Fuggedaboudit..He's da best!"

      ps...ya ya so Marty's a New Yorker not a Jersey-ite.
So...what's your point? Cool is cool..no matter what side of the river it's on...

Where else can you get R.E.M. with the subtlest use of the F bomb to follow the Chairman of the Board Frank Sinatra? Great job Steven, keep up the good work, baby!
