Show 707 - Lenny Bruce

Air Date:

Monday, 19 October 2015

Hey Baby, Little Steven here with our weekly Underground Garage pop quiz. Who is the coolest comedian of all time?

All right I will make it easier, who is your favorite comedian of all time. I am talking about the stand up kind of guys.

Richard Pryor?…very good. George Carlin?…very good. Rodney Dangerfield?

Well we think it is Lenny Bruce, and we are celebrating his birthday this weekend in the Underground Garage.

And since it is the anniversary of Nuggets, we are celebrating Lenny Kaye and Jac Holzman too.

Joining us will be the Animals, the Seeds, the Knickerbockers, the Rolling Stones, Blues Project and Cream.

It’s the most important coolest comic that has ever lived this weekend in the Underground Garage, the only Rock n’ Roll dance party on the radio. I’ll see you there.

Thanks for all of the devotion throughout the years. This is the only kind of music that matters. Nothing else comes close, but then you already knew that !

Cool show !!! Especially love the "Barbarella, Queen of the Galaxy" sound clip... Again, WHEN WILL WE HEAR "BARBARELLA IN BOSTON" ???!??? Still chuckling whenever I imagine Little Steven say "I don't wanna go to Alderaan, there's no love on Alderaan"...

By the way, did you know that the 80's pop band Duran Duran got its name from the character in the movie ? Imagine, a man not only creating the positronic ray, but also a machine called the orgasmatron...
