Hey baby, Little Steven here.
This week in the Underground Garage we have part 1 of a 2-part show dedicated to The Wrecking Crew.
They are the amazing session guys who played on almost all your favorite songs from the West Coast in the 60’s.
It is a wonderful documentary that will be available on Blu-ray and DVD.
Joining us will be the Beach Boys, the Ronettes, Sam Cooke, Grass Roots, and the Righteous Brothers.
Come find out what Willy DeVille, Nancy Sinatra, and Barry McGuire have in common.

A Truly Excellent Special 5 Star Special! Now, We're Talking! One of the Best Ever, Little Steven! It's Also Very special that you added some extra tunes to each set that were not on the show on Saturday Night! I Shall Post some additional comments at a later date! I'm sure that All Underground Garage members are just drooling over that. It is significant to note, however, that the truly excellent drummer, Mr. Hal Blaine, was born just over 10 miles away from where I reside. Hal, who was mentioned many times throughout the show, was born in Holyoke, Massachusetts! I saw my very 1st concert in Holyoke, when I saw The Kingsmen in 1964! Peace And Love Through Music, SMRZ!
Great show !!! For a long time, "The Lonely Bull" was the only Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass song heard as a musical bed... Now there are two more... "A Taste of Honey" and "Whipped Cream"... Both from "Whipped Cream and Other Delights" that probably owe its popularity to its cover of Dolores Erickson covered in whipped cream (actually shaving cream)... Oh, man, have I drooled over that record cover as a kid... Probably the most copied record cover... You can even see it in "The Big Lebowski" when the Dude is flipping trhought Maud's records...
Our local retro theater just posted the Big L is rolling back into town eary Sept.....so we won't be gypped by the good lord. Regarding part 2 of wrecking crew, do you think we are owed or being swindled? Part 1 was so good I actually don't care but was looking forward to Robert's comments.
Lucky you !!! Where is that ? I'd love to see it... I once saw a french version of Slap Shot where everyone knew the dialogue and state up for the national anthems and cheered whenever the Chiefs scored...
By the way, nice offer about the Hard Rock Cafe picture... Unfortunately, the one in Montréal is now closed and so is the one in Ottawa... Now it's either Toronto, Boston, Foxwoods or New York...
At about 6:40 of Set II, the song "Hey Little Cobra" referred to by Little Steven and guest, the Melcher - Johnston production, was by the Ripchords.
An air date of Tuesday the 16th? I'm getting confused on which week this is supposed to be.
5 Very cool ones and one extra. I Get Around (Beach Boys)the arrangement is awesome. Eve of Destruction (Barry McGuire)like it alot nice, Don’t Worry Baby (Beach Boys) & California Dreaming (Mamas & Papas) a good tune & Denny Doherty was from Halifax, started a band here called the Hepsters. Then moved to Cali and met the other groove cats.
Born To Run (Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band) what can I say the best song ever, my plate is BORN2RN Bruce & the band are the best. Sloop John B (Beach Boys) wicked tune. Thanks Stevie, Keep on Rockin.
great show! cannot wait to see the doc. there is a book as well. thanks for posting this one too! ROCK ON! great unsung heroes of rock and roll! :)
so where is part TWO PLEASE???????????
Part two is available on the rockfm.fm podcast... It was a cool show... Though about three songs per set because of the interview... I'm sure Steven will put more for the internet version (like he did for part one...)
Man, there ain´t nothing like good old Sam Cooke, the best singer ever, twistin the night away´...
