Goo Goo Gajoob !!! Cool show !!! Can't hear "Farmer John" without thinking of Nick Hornby's "Juliet, Naked"... Good book... Haven't started "Funny Girl" yet... I read that the main character meets Jimmy Page and Keith Relf in the story...

For "I Am the Walrus", there's a sound clip from "The Big Lebowski" that could have been used... "It's just like Lenin said..."

Thank You Very Much, Little Steven, For an Extra special 5 star Saturday Night in which we celebrated Cinco de Mayo, which, as you noted, has become a much bigger celebration in The United States than in Mexico! Rather Ironic, I'd say. I would also like to Thank The Administrator For getting The Excellent show up into the Archives So Quickly! Great Work! Show # 682! WOW! Are we ever getting up there! Lotza Cool shows! I shall utilize the patented Ron Lynch method of choosing one tune from each set, at least, as well as explaining why I've chosen that tune. Fair Enough? What Did You Call Me? Why, You Dirty Little Rat! Wait until you make it to Westfield, Massachusetts, where I currently reside. I'll fix You! But, I digress! On To the Music. Set 1. I must pick Farmer John by The Premiers. The reason being is that is one of the tunes that my Garage Band, December's Children, for which I played Bass as well as Drums, when needed, used to play at each and every one of our gigs. I actually used to sing lead at times, if the lead singer got too drunk and stoned! Which was about 50% of the time. Very Cool Tune! Set 2. The Psychedelic Alice In Wonderland set. I pick I Am The Walrus by The Beatles. The reason being is that it is one of my favorite Beatle tunes EVER recorded. John Rules on that Baby! Set 3. I was going to pick Can You Please Crawl Out Your Window? by Dylan, BUT, I would be remiss if I did not choose (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction. The reason being for that would be that today, May 6, is the 50TH Anniversary of the very same day that Keith Richards woke up from a stupor, to discover that Greatest Riff in Rock History! Yes, with "Fuzz Box", Fuzz Tone and all! Thank God and Buddha that Keith had kept that tape recorder going, Eh? Also, Very Significant to note, as you, yourself pointed out, Little Steven, that both Keith and Mick were overridden by Andrew Loog and the rest of the gang, to actually put the song out! To Me, it is The Greatest Rock Song EVER! 1965! May 6! 50 Freakin' Years! Am I Ever getting old. I'll never forget the very 1st time that we were riding in that car between Westfield, Massachusetts, to nearby Springfield, just 9 short miles away, and that Fuzz Tone Riff 1st came on the radio. Talk about a Game Changer! Set 4. I choose Him Or Me by Paul Revere & The Raiders. The reason being was that it just is simply a very cool tune, as well as being their last big hit, I do believe. Set 5. Freak Of the Week, Mr. Orson Welles Set. I choose King Midas In Reverse by The Hollies. My reason being is that that single was the very last BIG top 40 hit for The Hollies, when they still had Graham Nash. Now I always thought that Nash left just to join Crosby, Stills, Nash. But, I have recently discovered that the seed of his departure was specifically planted when the Hollies chose to record an entire L.P. of Dylan covers. The L.P. was titled Words And Music By Dylan in 1969. Nash left in late 1968, paving the way for Terry Sylvester. he was good but those harmonies by The Hollies were never as good as they were as when they had Nash. IMHO, Of course! But, Who Am I, Anyway? You all know me, doncha'? Well I guess that's it for another week. Thanks for the great Saturday Night, Stevie. If anybody is really interested, my Prostate Cancer does not seem to be advancing too rapidly, as of yet. So, who knows? I may end up buying the farm from ingesting too many Psychedelic Mushrooms before the cancer does me in, anyway. I still have a gallon container of those precious shrooms left when I last looked. I Just have to keep Alice away from them. I hope that everybody had a great Cinco de Mayo! I certainly did. If anybody is interested in what I did, just e-mail me and I shall send you a narrative, O.K.? For All Those who Live IN and FOR, The Underground Garage, Peace Be With You! Sincerely, SMRZ!

Hello Out There! I'm BACK! I just wanted to mention the passing of Jack Ely, singer of one of the most famous Garage Anthems EVER! Jack sang the original take for the original recording of "Louie Louie". Sadly, Jack left us on April 28, just last Tuesday. I mention this because 'Louie Louie" is one of the most famous Garage Anthems ever recorded. It was actually recorded in only one take. I did see The Kingsmen at The Mountain Park Ballroom in Holyoke, Massachusetts, in 1964. It was actually the very 1st concert that I ever attended. The Kingsmen played it exactly 5 times that evening! I shall never forget it. Jack left The Kingsmen early on because of a dispute with Lynn Easton, who was the original lead singer. But, it was Jack Ely, who co-founded The Kingsmen with Easton in 1958, who garbled the words to the most infamous lyrics ever recorded. We all know about the FCC investigation that followed. Unfortunately, Jack was no longer with The Kingsmen when I saw them in 1964. So, Jack Ely, who passed at age 71, on April 28, 2015, Rest In Peace, or, as I prefer to say, IN MEMORY! Peace Be With You, Jack! EEYAHH! SMRZ!

I agree with you 100% on the Dylan tune. I've always Loved Dylan But, his version on this record actually makes me wince with pain. Give me Ezio Pinza, who recorded the original tune from the Broadway Cast recording, way back in 1949! Of course, the most popular tune from the play "South Pacific"! I do like Ringo's tune, however, as well as that entire release. But that's just my Humble Opinion. SMRZ!

Rosie Clooney and Frank arranged by the great Nelson Riddle is my favorite version. Frank could go straight up the middle with dreamy lyrics and a tender melody adding muscle without ebbing the romance and Rosemary (aka George's aunt) had a sweet warm voice. Mostly for me it's Franks emotional generosity that makes a song like Some Enchanted Evening work. I'll be wincing with you Robert!

Wincin' too... I guess I was ego much "Two Oat Sodas, Gary" when I listened to the tune originally... But when I listened to the new Motherly Love show last night, I was like, "what ?"... Fortunately, the new Palmyra Delran and Bubble Gun song (csitwtw) made up for it... Little Steven passed up on "Run Now Baby" last year, but made the right choice with "No Time Like Never"... The song is so cool I couldn't wait for Mr Administrator to put up show 684 to say it...

Ooops... I guess I'm starting to be"Two Oat Sodas, Gary" right now because I meant "too" and not "ego"... I'm looking at the keyboard and am wondering how I could have spelled the letters e-g-o instead of t-o-o... Damn beer...

Switch to white russians and do some taichi to get that focus back! I thought of you, Steed, when I heard Palmyra's new song though I figured it was the same one you requested a while ago.... Regardless, it rocks and is my fav csitwtw thus far.
