Show 675 - On The Road

Air Date:

Monday, 09 March 2015

Hey baby, Little Steven here, and this week in the Underground Garage we are celebrating Jack Kerouac, the man who changed the world.

Celebrating with us will be the J. Geils Band, the Soncis, the Beatles, Moby Grape, and Mitch Ryder & the Detroit Wheels.

Come discover what Taj Mahal, Dee Dee Sharp, and Handsome Dick Manitoba have in common.

It’s the man who wrote the book who changed the world.

This weekend in the world’s only Rock n’ Roll dance party on the radio.

I’ll see you in the Underground Garage

I have a picture of Kerouac posing with Neal Casady in my office cube for ironic inspiration.

Also, not to be a dweeb but Chuck Berry's keyboard player was Johnnie Johnson - not Johnnie Jones. I was lucky enough to gig with him a few times...amazing touch - all shuffles!!

5 Cool ones people. Route 66 (Live) (Rolling Stones), Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man (Bob Seger System) Was at the Bob Seger concert in Halifax here he was awesome. Last time was in 1974 when he opened up for a Canadian Band caleed BTO.I was 14 then had a cute blonde for a date, Robin. Highway Chile (Jimi Hendrix Experience)Jimi Rocks. (I Live For) Cars & Girls (Dictators) & Rocket 88 (Jackie Brenston and his Delta Cats) Had to pick 2 on this set, that Rocket 88 makes want to get my car out but too much snow out there. Highway 61 Revisited (Bob Dylan)What can say Bob is just too good. Thanks Stevie, Keep on Rockin.

What's big and purple and lives under the sea?

    Moby Grape

No, it's that big buy from McDonald's that looks like a Barbapapa... "Grosse Douceur" is its name in French...
