Show 618 - The Idolmaker

Air Date:

Monday, 03 February 2014

Hey baby, Little Steven here.

Forget about that little football game this weekend because we have our own much sillier silliness this weekend in the Underground Garage.

We are starting our non stop Rock n’ Roll dance party by celebrating Al Kooper’s birthday and The Idolmaker.

Joining us at the party will be the Raspberries, the Ramones, the Beatles, the Mothers Of Invention, and the Yardbirds.

Find out what Gary Lewis, Arthur Lee, Elmore James have in common.

It’s a super duper Rock n’ Roll dance party this weekend in the Underground Garage.

Hey, anyone has a transcript or a pdf file of the Playboy 20 Questions to Steven Van Zandt from the Feburary 2000 issue ? I used to have the magazine, but don't have it no more...

Get out your credit card for what they say is a 'free' verification of your identity and go to this site:

Actually, since I mentioned a possible source, I thought I'd better check the site myself.

Don't bother. You won't find it, and they'll try to suck you into a membership where you've got to be alert to cancel it before automatic charges set in.

          Hello Jerry,

Thanks for the info... I knew I should have kept those stacks of magazine...

I listened to last weeks (the idol maker #618) archived program expecting to hear an instrumental guitar track that I believe ran during set 2 or set 3. It was a cool little ditty with some cool chord changes. It's nowhere to be found. Do they edit the archived program to drop in the Hard Rock Cafe spots? Just wondering. Anybody know the track?

Great show, Steven, you really got deep in the Underground Garage catalog. You're right about Mary Wells; a totally undervalued part of the Motown scene.
