Show 598: Back To School

Air Date:

Monday, 16 September 2013

Hey baby, Little Steven here. Up in the morning and out to school. Oh my god it’s that time again.

Lord have mercy.

But don’t worry kids, we’re going to get you through it, and your guidance counselors will be the Yardbirds, the Beach Boys, the Chocolate Watchband, the Rolling Stones, J. Geils Band, and the Sex Pistols.

Brand new music from Mark Lindsay, Soraia, the Laundertettes, the Connection, and King Kahn and the Shrines.

You have to tune in this week to find out what Dolly  Parton, James Brown, and Mrs. Wojciechowski have in common.

It’s our Back To School special in the world’s only Rock n’ Roll dance party on the radio. I’ll see you this weekend in the Underground Garage.

Stevie, you are BRILLIANT. Soraia + Southside Johnny on the Love & Guns & Pills & Ammo Peace Rally Tour. I DIG IT! :) Thanks for playing another great track from Soraia's "In the Valley of Love and Guns"... there are so many fantastic songs on there I can't pick a favorite. OK, maybe I can... but it's hard. Really Hard. Leave it to you to have the Coolest new music in the Garage. \m/

I keep hoping he/you will play "Schooldays" by Starjets (Rhino Records "Starry Eyes, UK Pop II (1978-79)") but I can't seem to figure out how to make a request.

    Kahnawake: It's pronounced "Ga-na-wa-gay"...

Great show !!! I feared that with the Love Disease series, we wouldn't have the Back to School show... Will the Girls of Summer show become the Girls of Winter ? That would be interesting...

Another cool show. It's like I had to go back to school too after having August off work.

Great, great show - as usual! I was wondering if you still list the musical beds in the playlist? I know they used to be included - and it's some of the coolest parts of the show - swore I heard some Link Wray in there . . . .

Caught this great show on the Spanish Radio station R O C K on the Costa Brava. Love some of the instrumental links, it'd be good to hear one or two complete versions.
