Show 559 - Santa Claus Is Coming To Town!

Air Date:

Sunday, 16 December 2012

Hey baby, Little Steven here, and guess what?

Santa Claus is coming to town, that’s right! This weekend in the Underground Garage it’s our pre-Christmas show, Santa Claus Is Coming To Town, where we recommend all kinds of cool gifts.

And don’t worry, they are the kind you can afford. We know what’s going on out there.

Joining us will be the amazing Keith Richards, Darlene Love, the Crystals, the Kinks, and Cheap Trick

I know you can’t wait to find out what Louis Prima, Vibeke, and Mojo Nixon have in common.

Come join us this weekend for Rock n’ Roll Radio’s only Christmas dance party.

I’ll see you this weekend in the Underground Garage.

Nice to see I am not the only one reading more than one book. Currently reading Lisey's Story by Stephen King & Bruce by Peter Ames Carlin.
Although I have read alot of the books on Bruce, this one gives a great insight to Bruce's life and that passion he has for music so great that giving up the desire for it was not a option for him.
    Thanks Stevie

SHIVER ME TIMBERS! I never knew that Santa was a PIRATE too-What can I say? My radio station didn't have this show on bcause they ran The Rascals show two weeks in a row. But WHO'S COMPLAINING? Another show from Christmas Heaven? How lucky can I be-I guess that Santa will be in Pirates Of the Caribbean 5. Merry Christmas Everybody1 This should be fun-as the mushrooms kick in. Show # 599! Santa Claus Is Coming To town-2012! Thank You so very much, Stevie, for such a wonderful Christmas-pt. 1. Another 5 Star special-to say the least! And Life Don't Suck-Stevie. As long as I have you and the Underground Garage to look forward to each week-as well as diving into the Archives. The music from this show, except for the new ones were taken from Saturday, December 17, 2011. But that's in another Universe. And so here we are. Set 1 Highlights1 Now don't forget everybody-at the very least Christmas symbolizes Rebirth, as well. So We got that going for us anyway. A Fantastic opening from The Crystals with the title cut-Santa Claus Is Coming To Town which is from the Greatest Christmas-Rock L.P. Ever. that being "A Christmas Gift To You From Phil Spector" from way back in 1963. Phil just recently turned 73. I wonder if he's hooked up with Charles Manson yet. Santa Got Run Over By My Chevy by Manic Hispanic. I wonder how the boys from East L. A. are doing? Jingle Jangle Christmas by Vibeke Sau gestad who is from Norway fits into the mix quite rightly. Closing the 1st set with the incredible Keith Richard's version of Run Rudolph Run, which sounds like Chuck Berry's version tho neither man wrote it. Ain't That A Kick In the Head? Noticed the musical beds were mostly by Davie Allan & the Arrows. Glued things together very well. "I Wan't A Casting Couch For Christmas". YEAH BABY! Set 2. Christmastime For Every Body But Me by the vastly underrated Hank Ballard kicks things off followed by Santa Baby by The Dollyrots which was originally done by Eartha Kitt. Christmas Dream by The Gripweeds was quite in tune & closing the set would be Darlene Love with Christmas(Baby Please Come Home) which you, yourself, Stevie, said was the Greatest Christmas Single Ever recorded. Mr Maharaj of Garage. During her sound byte Darlene declares "I Can't Believe He's Lined the Walls with Mistletoe". Very COOL Indeed! Geez-Stevie! I Don't Know. Reading 4 books at once? Ah, maybe ADD or a master of multi-tasking. How do you keep the plots straight in your head? Set 3. A Christmas Duel by The Hives with Cyndi Lauper kicks off the set with "I go down on your mother & I slept with your sister" muttered in there so as I heard. A very nice version of Joy To the World as done by the Butties followed by Christmas Won't Be The Same This Year by The Breakers and further down the line we get Christmas Christmas by the insane Mojo Nixon, which you have to hear at least twice to believe what you hear. Louie Louie dressed up in Christmas. Nice sound byte by Nancy Sinatra with "Feeling mighty fine, got Little Stevie on the radio". Cool-Daddy-o! Set 4. Coolest song of the week was All Alone On Christmas as done by the Midtown Men & shortly behind the 1951 classic as done by Louis Prima-Shake Hands with Santa Claus, which has to absolutely be one of the coolest Christmas songs ever! Cheap Trick contribute Come On Christmas & closing the set with the excellent musical bed by Davie Allan & The Arrows. A little talk of dvd's of the year with the incredible Rolling Stones with Charlie Is My Darling, which was a very candid view of The Stones & their 1965 tour of Ireland. Another nice soundbyte by Spongebob Squarepants & "Don't Be A Jerk-it's Christmas! Set 5. An excellent set that begins with Santa Claus by The Lonely Hearts Band which is then followed by Silent Night as done by The Fab Four. Tina Sugandh contributes a very nice version of White Christmas which is followed by the 1977 punk Christmas tune Father Christmas by The Kinks who declare "Father Christmas , give us some money-don't mess around with your stupid toys". And closing out the set & the show with Merry Christmas(To All The World) by Jean Beauvoir. Most of the songs from set 5 can be found on your excellent cd "Christmas A GO-GO", Stevie. And that's it for another year until next week when we visit the ghost of Christmas Present with Christmas A G0-G0-2012. I can hardly wait. Well, Stevie, thanks once again for the excellent show from a parallel universe, which I always love to visit. Yeah-Stevie! Life don't suck that bad. We'll always have the Underground Garage & can celebrate Christmases Past & Present. Take Care Everybody! Pax Um Biscum! Peace Be With All Who Live IN & FOR-The Underground Garage! I'll see youse next week & we can Christmas A Go-Go! 2012. EEYAHH!! SMRZ!!!
