Show 475 - Motherly Love 2011

Air Date:

Monday, 09 May 2011

Hey baby, Little Steven here.

You know what week this is, don’t you?

That’s right, mama mia, it’s Mother’s Day.

Joining us will be such mother lovers as Elvis Presley, Elvis Costello, Gary Lewis & the Playboys, Moby Grape, and Smokey Robinson & the Miracles.

New cool stuff from Candy Golde, Spanking Charlene, the Insomniacs, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, and the Dahlmanns.

Come find out what the Runaways, Little Walter, and the Rutles have in common.

We have more records by the Mother’s Of Invention than you have heard in the last ten years.

It’s a mother loving good time this weekend in the world’s only Rock n’ Roll dance party on the radio.

I’ll see you this weekend in the Underground Garage.

Segment 3 seems to be a copy of Set 4, and the real Set 3 is missing.

Nice nod to all the cool Mothers out there Stevie. I remember my Mom registered & insured both my 72 V8 Vega & 68 Bug so i could afford a winter & summer car.The 72 was hit from behind one summer night, a few days later an adjuster came by knocked on the door and asked my Mom " Do you drive that car? " She replied " Yes, mostly the weekends at the 1/4 mile dragway."
Mom's will even tell the little white lie for ya.

Big "ups" to a lot of the stuff in this show, especially "My Guitar Wants to Kill Your Mama" by FZ (an anthem for the Underground Garage if ever I've heard one!) and that whole last gurrrl-rock set (still keep hoping one day Little Steven will do an all-girl show). "Bad Word for a Good Thing" by The Friggs is *outstanding*, lyrically and vocally ---- kinda like the GoGos, but with even more "attitude"!

Nice show, someone just needs to fix the player that this site uses. It is a cpu & storage hog. I keep having to recycle either Firefox or IE to reclaim storage

We have recently been working on upgrades to the player. We also recommend that you use the most recent version of your browser and flash player. If the problem continues please email us at support@undergroundgarage.com

Spanking Charlene, from the opening riff, the coolest song in the world this week, well-deserved. Thanks for all of the ever-coming groovy new tunes.

Now I know Little Steven can't play everything but no complete all-girl garage rock show can omit Holly Vincent (Holly and the Italians). Her latest, called "Minnesota-California" is a jaw dropper. She is I think the most under-rated rocker/punk rocker.
But Little Steven's show - the only rock radio show I can listen to.

The Runaways: Love the serious guitar riff...lots of gutsy character, makes this guy want to turn it up and blow the neighbors away! And the chorus is perfect! Sounds like some echo in there too, well rounded and VERY TASTY!
The Pleasure Seekers: Cool and Nice! Love to hear Suzi and her sisters get it out there. Got Suzi's latest cd and there's some simple, TOUGH rockers there as well. Now, if we can only get her to hunker down and do some serious guitar-oriented, GIRRRRL punk-pop like we were teased about in her Chin-Chapman days, only without them and more guitar-slammin'......

I Love Playin' With Fire...one of the best intros in rock and roll. Runaways...the best in rock and roll. Sandy...still miss you!
