I feel like the guy in the movie "My Favorite Year": God, this makes me happy!
I am so excited and the broadcast hasn't even started yet. This should make filing tax return soooo much easier. Thanks, Stevie and Bruce
Bawstan Girl turned Tampa Girl - never forget the Superbowl - stage piece # ten, Stevie and Patty's spot!
really can't sit down listening to this show!!!
Thanks to Steve, Bruce and all the Legendary E-Street Band for the wonderful music, beautiful words and unforgettable concerts!!!
i'll wait for you in Italy!!ROCK'ON!!
I really enjoy listening to these two great musicians!
"Find a riff you like, change it from major to minor, and you're on your way" Who knew it was that easy. Bruce, the secret is out! Funny stuff! You and Steve should go on the road........
I myself grew up with that music, I bought NM and MM reat about it, listen to Radio Sweden and Luxenburg and other radiostations and it was great to listen to LS and BS how they both were affected of that music.
Especielly when they talk about Pete T.when he hit the ground with his guitar !!!
I´m looking forward for the next parts !!
Outstanding!!!!!!! I LOVE IT MATES!!!!!!!!! Long Live The Brotherhood ..Greetings From Italia!!!!

Do you still have archives of Goldie's Garage? The website has changed substantially since the last time I was here...
I think there will be many signs during the next tour waiting to hear Bruce bust out that Hosanna by Darwins Theory...The cat is outta the bag now....Probably would be a good idea to use that one as the last song before taking the stage....
Brilliant, Viva Little Steven. Terrestrial radio is a wasteland these days...
Sitting around talking with your best friends about your favorite bands. It doesn't get any better than that. Loved hangin' with you Steven and Bruce. See ya next week.Same channel, same bat time! ("Yer only as cool as who you steal from!")
Cool interview:) I especially liked the part where Springsteen talked about how much he loved that song "Purple People Eater." I thought it was funny that a man whom many consider to be Dylan's heir would like such a silly song. I also liked when the Animals were mentioned as an influence on Springsteen. They also wrote a lot of songs with working class themes.
Great show! I rarely listen to radio at home.I packed up my rack system soon as I got my iPod. Only radios are in the kitchen and a clock radio in the bedroom with a broken volume control. So my wife and I huddled around the speaker on my BlackBerry! We laughed how it was a flashback to the days of listening through an AM transistor radio under your pillow. Can't wait for the next one.
Thank you very much for the program ,Love peace and rock and roll from Menorca Spain
Great show fellas, question for Steve. Why can't we get the Little Steven and the Disciples of soul music on Itunes?
Happy 9th anniversary!
Hello, my name is Ron Ryan, and writing this from England. I have been listening to the show and thought that Bruce as he likes 'Anyway you want it' might be interested to know that I in fact wrote it. I was the ghost-writer for the DC5, you can find my name on earlier songs I wrote for the Band like 'Do Dah', 'Mulberry Bush', 'That's what I said' and a few more. When the Band got famous Dave Clark wanted to appear like 'John Lennon' and have just his name, or his and Mike Smiths name on as writers. I also wrote 'Bit's and pieces' (a song that started life as a Country song), and 'Because', that also did rather well. I got well and truly shafted , but I bet you blokes have seen some of that. If you want to follow this up and want me on the show just email me, I am a fan of Bruce's, and just wanted him to know who really wrote the song he likes, cheers, Ron.
The women that sang on the Pink Floyd song sued 30 years after the fact , so why cant you?
Good point, gerrald --- oh, and she *won* the suit, too, although I've never seen a reliable report of just how much she received in settlement. Her name is Clare Torry, by the way --- historical pics of her (contemporary with "Great Gig in the Sky") are very hard to come-by. Wonder if Roger and David bought all of them up or something? :-)? (Oooh . . . Pink Floyd Conspiracy Theory! LOL!)
Ron, thank you very much for writing those songs, which I love. I listened to UG for the first time in a long time tonight, and felt motivated to register/log in to the site. I'm glad I did if for no other reason than to read your post and have the opportunity to express my appreciation. I'm sorry you were "shafted," but I hope it's some consolation to know that there are people out there who admire and cherish the work you did. Best wishes!
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! With all of Stevens knowlege of music, and its history ,and his best and oldest friend friend being Bruce,This show was long due for all the fans !!! extremely entertaining !! love seeing them both relaxed and having fun, like they are just sitting at the kitchen table and shooting the breeze!!!
Lissa F. (from levittown Pa, now living in las vegas)
love your show! bummer i can´t listen to it on the web!?
Happy 9th anniversary! bytheway :)
Ah yes, memories of the transistor (mine had 3!) listening to WABC with Scott Muni and Cousin Brucie... the Four Seasons were the bomb until Lennon and Macartney. Great show!
Happy 9th anniversary...such a cool-treat to hear two best friends looking back on some happy-musical-moments...thanks for sharing all the wonderful stories and great tunes...brings back lots of my own happy-musical-memories...GOOD STUFF!!!!!!!!!
excellent show, really felt as if you were listening to two buddies sharing their past, truly excellent
Thanks for the great show from Florence, Italy
Great show and great music! Love the story about how the Animals influenced Bruce's songwriting. Bruce, you should record an "oldies" album. Side 1 of the LP would have your renditions of your favorite songs from the 60s and side 2 would have new songs you wrote based on the songs on side 1. You could release it only on vinyl and maybe even only in mono.
Great great stuff!! A smile producing trip down memory lane. Wish I could put it on my ipod for my walks. Looking forward to the next 2 shows.
Wonderful listening. We even get a song writing lesson from the master hisself. Loved it. (Laughed my ass off!) I'll be glued to my pc for the next two episodes. Great stuff!
Loved it to bits and pieces. Wonderful memories and a mention for all the British invasion bands - and the great Lonnie Donegan. Now let me see ... Youngstown chords in a major key ... could be a hit ... some help with the words please, Bruce.
Been a fan of UG for years. Garage bands/music imprinted on me forever, growing up with the Shadows of Knight in the Chicago suburbs; terrific, vibrant local music scene in the late 60s. Great show with Bruce. A cherry on top of the Underground Garage sundae! Don't forget the Kinks and the Who in the British Invasion.
Loved It To Death! Cannot wait for the rest...Always Love LSUG...but this was very special...and GREAT MUSIC!!!
went way beyond my expectations!!! amazing how he ripped off the animals to make badlands!!!! cannot wait to hear the rest. so, what can LS possibly do next year to better this one?
LS and BG, thanks for commenting on something I noticed a few decades ago : Ray Davies and the Kinks created an amazing combination of sounding raw and tough while doing very musically sophisticated things. IMHO, they're the most under-appreciated of the British Invasion groups. And Dave Davies is a seriously under-appreciated guitarist.
Oops. I just realized that this "current show" thread is for the first LS & BS show. I was commenting on the second, which I heard on KQMT-99.5-The Mountain tonight.
I know we Coloradoans are above the rest of the country, but didn't realize we're also ahead of you as well. :-)
My comment about the Kinks relates to the second LS & BS show. If you haven't heard that one yet, be sure to check it out, and in particular, listen to the discussion of (and music by) the Kinks.
AMAZING....and I never laughed so hard....BRUCE trying to re-string an electric bass with guitar strings,LOL!!
Hey guys!Is there a way that i can liesten yo the show on my ipod?
Can i download it or something like that?
Thanks!
Bruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuce!:)
Just finished listening here in the UK. I'm getting a history lesson on brit music from two new jersey dudes. One of the most enjoyable shows I've heard. I'm hooked and willbe ordering my UG t shirt immeadiately. Great Show Stevie.
Only half way through first show but have to say - just brilliant! From a UK perspective it's fascinating to hear first hand how the 'British invasion' influenced my favourite US musicians.
Hi, Little Steven. I've been a faithful listener of this show for years as well as a long-time fan of Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band. Listening to you guys talking about your roots (you're about 12 years older than I am) gave me a great touring idea for the band. What if you just played songs that you wrote from the Seventies live? That would include the original studio albums that you released as well as material from later releases such as Tracks and The Promise. You could add some of your favorite old-time rock'n'roll to the set list, too. Call it the Lookin' Back Tour. Whaddaya think? Thanks.
Stevie, Calabria, really? My family is from San Giovanni in Fiore (heard about it my whole life). Loved listening to you guys. And I'll never forget my addiction to "I Wanna Hold Your Hand". Still remember it like it was yesterday.
Thanks Guys
How come there are songs not listed in the set above that were played during the show, but not listed ? Anyway to update the songs that were left out for refernce ?
Wow Awesome! Can't wait to listen to the next two shows. Way to go Little Steven. Happy 9th Birthday and let's hope for many many more! I listen to your show as often as possible and then sing the songs for weeks after.
Listening on the internet from South Africa - loving it!
Absolute amazing!!! Finally something half decent for all those real music lovers out there, keep it up little stevie!! me love you longggggg time :)
Outstanding! Simply Outstanding!
This just feels soooo right... it feels like home!
Woaah I feel I just came to life today!!! I feel I have found the Holy Grail!!! This is the best radio show ever!!! Just A W E S O M E !!! Greetings from Spain buddies (the west coast of the E Street Nation :-D), you have my admiration!
Just catching up to this. It's so awesome to listen to these guys bring it to the table as far as their backgrounds and what "turned their heads." I'll dig into the others later on. I'm working on Baldands on the piano, there's a major 7th that's killing me.
Caught one of these shows on a drive to the beach. After a five hour drive, I pulled into the hotel parking lot and sat there until the show was over!
Thank for sharing such a beautiful moment with us. As a fan, i couldn't be happier.
And thank you for all the great data on rock n' roll, great use for trying to write the next great song ;)
